The theme for this community art exhibit is BLACK and WHITE, so many media are eligible….photography, pencil or ink drawings, printmaking, or paintings that stick to the theme. You may submit any original artwork in any medium as long as your only ‘colours’ are black, white and the greys in between. We invite you to share your passion for art by showing off a piece or two. ART EXHIBIT: Cate Francis: Paper Wildlife Conservancy
Cate Francis has created a parody organization titled the Paper Wildlife Conservancy or PWC. Featuring a series of illustrative prints and collages, the project examines cohabitation with wildlife on the prairies, and is interested in highlighting the role that wildlife plays in defining a sense of place and home. “Our interactions with urban wildlife can be at once precious, precarious and mundane. Red Moon Road make a much bigger sound than one would expect from a trio. It’s an impressive, well-choreographed show incorporating impeccable three-part harmonies, a roots drum kit split between two band members, and an acoustic guitar franken-rigged to also be the bass. Simultaneously, a moustached man plays mandolin, lap steel, banjo and organ (often at the same time), and subtle technological wizardry whirls while the unmistakable soulful voice of Sheena, one of Canada’s most talented singers, soars above it all.…
